Salvia Vista Red

Salvia Vista Red is a compact, vibrant variety of Salvia splendens (commonly known as Scarlet Sage) that delivers a bold splash of intense, bright red flower spikes all season long. Part of the popular Vista series, this variety is bred for early flowering, uniform growth, and excellent branching, making it ideal for mass plantings, borders, containers, and landscape beds. Its dense, upright habit and striking color make it a favorite for creating eye-catching displays in gardens and public spaces. To care for Salvia Vista Red, plant in full sun and ensure the soil is well-drained. Water regularly, especially during dry periods, but avoid overwatering. While deadheading is not required, removing spent flower spikes can promote continued blooming. Apply a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer every few weeks to encourage vigorous growth and flowering. Salvia Vista Red is low-maintenance, heat- and humidity-tolerant, and generally resistant to deer and pests, making it an excellent choice for low-effort, high-impact color throughout the growing season. Salvia Vista Red grows to a neat height of 10–12 inches with a 10–12 inch spread, forming a compact, bushy plant. It performs best in full sun and well-drained soil, blooming continuously from late spring to first frost. The plant features vibrant red, tubular flower spikes held above deep green foliage, attracting pollinators like hummingbirds and butterflies. Vista Red is known for its weather tolerance, heat resilience, and uniform flowering, making it a top performer in both home gardens and commercial landscapes.
