The Macallan Sherry Oak 25 Year Old (2024 Release) is a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky matured exclusively in hand-selected sherry seasoned oak casks from Jerez de la Frontera in Spain. Part of The Macallan's Sherry Oak Collection, this expression reflects the distillery's emphasis on the relationship between oak maturation, natural colour and the development of rich, complex flavours. Matured for a minimum of 25 years, the whisky develops its character through prolonged interaction with sherry seasoned oak. The casks contribute layers of dried fruits, citrus, ginger and rich oak, alongside the deeper chocolate and spice characteristics associated with extended maturation. The influence of European oak is central to the expression, providing the distinctive richness and structure of The Macallan's traditional sherry cask style. For the 2024 release, The Macallan collaborated with photographer Erik Madigan Heck, whose abstract photography explores the relationship between the whisky's flavour profile and the natural surroundings of The Macallan Estate. His imagery draws inspiration from the warm colours and sensory characteristics of the Sherry Oak Collection, reflecting notes of raisins, dried orange, black cherries and rich oak.
