The series explores the tension between the polished identities we present to the world and the more unpredictable realities beneath them. Words from the artists: "As the foundational piece of the series, Goldfinch explores the sheer exhaustion of projecting absolute perfection. The bird represents a silent, persistent weight, an imperceptible burden. The painting forces a fracture, exposing the raw, vulnerable human effort required to hold a heavy reality, however the light winged visitor may seem."
