The church spire gives Melton Mowbray's town view a warm evening calm, rising above rooftops under a glowing orange sky, Its soft light and measured view give the place a quietly memorable character. A narrow spire stands near the centre, surrounded by clustered roofs and dark tree canopies. The sunset shifts from orange near the horizon to rose and violet clouds overhead. A low line of hills sits behind the town, while the foreground falls into deep shadow. Melton Mowbray is shown here in its surroundings. Visitors familiar with Melton Mowbray, the church tower offers a familiar outline against the evening light. The surrounding roofs gather close beneath it, and the bright band above the horizon marks the last colour over town. The familiar details make this view easy to place for anyone who has spent time in the area.
