Some 100 years later, Glashütte Original draws inspiration from this boundless creativity and presents the Senator Aventurine Art Déco Blue. Its cool blue hue, set in platinum, combines the elegance of Art Déco with the fascinating depth of a dial crafted from subtly sparkling aventurine. This exceptional timepiece with automatic winding comes in a slim platinum case measuring 40 mm in diameter and captivates with its minimalist design. Polished and satin-finished surfaces on the case reflect the light, whilst the brand’s signature double-G symbol adorns the finely fluted crown. An elegant Louisiana alligator leather strap echoes the dark blue of the aventurine dial and tastefully completes the overall look. The dial of this exquisite watch is made from dark blue aventurine. This material was first produced in the 17th century by glass artists in Murano, Venice. Its characteristic sparkle is created by metal oxides which are mixed into the molten glass and coalesce into shimmering particles. Their random arrangement – the name aventurine derives from ‘a ventura’, Italian for ‘by chance’ – makes every dial unique. Each aventurine disc is lacquered black on the reverse to bring out the glass’s delicate light reflections to their best advantage. Behind the elegant design lies the finest watchmaking craftsmanship: the high-precision in-house Calibre 36 delivers a stable running time of 100 hours. The silicon balance spring protects the movement from the adverse effects of magnetic fields and temperature fluctuations. The intricate finishes can be admired in all their beauty through the sapphire crystal case back: the Glashütte stripe finish on the three-quarter plate, the hand-engraved balance cock, and the skeletonized rotor with a mirrored ‘G’ symbol and solid gold oscillating weight.
