1990 Toyota Land Cruiser 80 Series VX

This 1990 Toyota Land Cruiser 80 Series VX is a Japanese-market HDJ81 showing 227,660 kilometers (approximately 141,461 miles). Finished in Dark Bluish Gray Metallic (183), this early 80 Series is powered by Toyota’s legendary 4.2L 1HD-T turbo diesel inline-six, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission and full-time 4WD. The HDJ81 is one of the most desirable diesel configurations of the 80 Series, combining Toyota’s heavy-duty Land Cruiser platform with the direct-injected 1HD-T turbo diesel. The 4.2L engine was factory rated at approximately 165 hp and 266 lb-ft of torque. Toyota documentation confirms the 1HD-T-equipped 80 Series was offered with a 5-speed manual and full-time four-wheel-drive system. This example is especially appealing with its factory 5-speed manual transmission, a configuration far less commonly seen than the automatic HDJ81s. The auction sheet also identifies a sunroof and rear-mounted spare tire, giving it the classic early 80 Series JDM appearance. With the 1HD-T turbo diesel, manual gearbox, full-time 4WD, and classic 80 Series chassis, this is a great platform for a collector, overland build, or anyone looking for an old-school diesel Land Cruiser.
