agápē by Jewell Dalina
Created during the spring of 2024 while on her first residency in Kyoto, this work marks an early turning point in Jewell Dalina’s practice and the beginning of her sustained exploration of agápi and thlípsi. Dalina draws from ancient Greek understandings of love, particularly agápē, regarded as the highest form of sacrificial and unconditional love, while thlípsi appears as the shadow of grief, highlighting that devotion and loss are one and inseparable experiences. The original artwork is created using soft pastels, acrylic and gold leaf on paper. @jewelldalina
