Thyme - Silver Queen

This special thyme has beautiful, evergreen variegated leaves edged in cream and silver, giving it a ghostly appearance and offering something different in the herb garden. Compact and fully hardy, Thyme Silver Queen plants are suited to pots, containers and hanging baskets where the unusual foliage can be appreciated. Like all thymes, it enjoys a sunny spot in free-draining soil and is happy to get on with things if left alone. Brilliant in the kitchen too, the silver leaves make an excellent garnish and look cool in a snowy Christmas cocktail! Thymus citriodorus ‘Silver Queen’ is a modern thyme cultivar although its history is as cloudy as its leaves. However, its sufficiently impressive to have gained the coveted RHS Award of Garden Merit (AGM) over 30 years ago and is still on the list today.
