October 20, 1977. He asked us a question once. Right at the front of the song everybody knows — before the guitars ever took off — he asked whether we'd still remember him if he were gone. Then he was gone. Nobody ever got to answer him. So here's the answer. We do. We still do. Forty-nine years on, the music hasn't faded and neither has the ache.
