Gold has accompanied Colombia's history since the myth of El Dorado, as an offering and as a symbol of the land. This piece brings that heritage into an intimate format: the country's silhouette, in miniature and suspended over linen, presented as a work to be admired up close.It was born from a collaboration between Danielle Lafaurie and a community of artisans. The wood is cut along the outline of the map of Colombia and covered in hand-applied gold leaf, a process that leaves unrepeatable textures and glints on the surface.
