2022 Primitivo

If you love Zinfandel but are looking for something brighter, more balanced and less jammy, meet our 2022 Primitivo. Ripe raspberry, brambleberry and dark cherry unfold across a layered palate, joined by subtle earthy undertones and a smooth, lingering finish. The cooler 2022 growing season gave this early-ripening grape more time on the vine, developing darker, more nuanced flavors while preserving fresh acidity and restrained alcohol. Aging entirely in neutral oak keeps the fruit vibrant and lets the character of the grape shine. Grown at Coyote Canyon Vineyard in the dry, windswept Horse Heaven Hills, this is a Washington expression shaped by Primitivo’s traditional Puglian identity: generous without becoming heavy, rich without sacrificing brightness and ready to enjoy now while possessing the balance to develop further in the bottle. Primitivo was the first Italian variety produced at Bartholomew and remains one of our longest-running wines. The 2022 vintage is a return to those roots. An ideal bottle for pizza, pasta, grilled meats or anyone ready to discover a more refined side of Zinfandel.
