Cyanotype Workshop
BFC’s Cyanotype Workshop is back by popular demand! Join us for an afternoon exploring one of photography’s earliest printing processes and create your own blue-and-white photographic prints using sunlight, chemistry, and found objects. Led by multidisciplinary artist Kaya Savelson (@kayasavelson), this beginner-friendly workshop will take you through the cyanotype process from start to finish, including coating, exposing, and washing your prints. No previous experience is necessary, and you’ll leave with 2–4 finished cyanotype pieces of your own. Participants are encouraged to bring objects from home to incorporate into their prints, from flowers and leaves to lace, jewelry, film negatives, or anything else that might create an interesting silhouette. You can also bring light-colored clothing or fabric to experiment with cyanotype printing on textiles. The workshop will take place outdoors in BFC’s backyard. All necessary materials, including watercolor paper and cyanotype solution, will be provided. Limited capacity. When: Saturday, October 24th · 12–2pm Where: BFC’s Backyard · 855 Grand Street, Brooklyn Cost: $45
