The Christmas Giftmakers Workshop

Two afternoons of old-fashioned handcrafts and handmade gifts! November 10 & 17 | 1:00–3:30pm This Christmas, we’re making gifts worth giving! Join us at Tanglewood Hollow for two special afternoons of old-fashioned giftmaking! We’ll be learning traditional handcrafts, working with real materials, and creating beautiful, useful gifts to tuck away for the people we love. Forget the glitter and disposable crafts! These workshops are all about slowing down, learning new skills, and discovering the satisfaction of making something with your own two hands. Each afternoon will feature a different collection of projects, and children are welcome to join us for one workshop or both! November 10: Traditional household crafts We’ll explore some time-honored techniques as we create handmade gifts inspired by the skills and traditions of generations past. Projects will include: Hand-dipped beeswax candles: Learn the traditional process of dipping candles, layer by layer. Block-printed tea towels: Design and print a beautiful, one-of-a-kind kitchen towel. Hand-sewn lavender sachets: Practice simple hand-stitching to create a fragrant little gift. November 17: Handmade holiday treasures Our second afternoon will be filled with cozy Christmas traditions as we create gifts that are as enjoyable to make as they are to give! Our projects will include: Homemade Hot Cocoa Jars: Measure and layer ingredients to create delicious homemade cocoa mixes, complete with handwritten labels and instructions. Waldorf Window Stars: Learn the beautiful art of folding translucent paper into intricate geometric stars that glow when hung in a sunny window. Punched-Tin Christmas Ornaments: Explore a traditional decorative metalworking technique as we create beautiful ornaments inspired by old-fashioned tinwork. Throughout both afternoons, children will practice patience, creativity, problem-solving, and fine motor skills while gaining experience with traditional tools and techniques. We’ll also spend time thoughtfully wrapping our creations, complete with handmade gift tags, so they’re ready to give at Christmas! Program Details Dates: Tuesday, November 10 and Tuesday, November 17 Time: 1:00–3:30pm each day Ages: 8+ Location: Tanglewood Hollow, Concord, NH Pricing: One workshop: $69 per child Both workshops: $125 per child (save $13!) This is a drop-off program. All materials are included, and children will bring home a collection of handmade gifts from each workshop they attend. Each workshop is a complete, standalone experience.
