Born in the heights of the High Peaks, the Ausable eventually turns quiet, its elemental beauty feeding the farms that make the Adirondack landscape so enduring. This sweater is knit from a blend of alpaca and wool raised in New York's cold climates. The hand has a ruggedness to it and a density and warmth that comes from animals bred to endure real winters. Each sweater is part of a limited-edition run sourced through Carbon Beneficial™ certified New York farms. Because we use minimally processed fibers, you may notice occasional bits of hay within the knit—a subtle reminder of its farm-to-yarn origin that can be easily removed with a sweater comb or tweezers. Natural New York wool may also develop light pilling in the first few wears. Simply smooth it out with a sweater stone or shaver to restore its finish. Meet our farms here.
