The men's jungle jacket, a jacket for the heat During the Vietnam War, the US Army dressed its soldiers in jungle fatigues, a tropical outfit worn over the trousers, which gradually replaced the OG-107 in combat units; it heralded the Battle Dress Uniform that would follow. The specification came down to three words: lightness, ventilation, storage. This men's jungle jacket takes up the first model, called the 1st pattern, with its loose cut that lets you move and its pockets designed for use. Four pockets and tobacco-toned buttons The jacket has four patch pockets, closed by a buttoned flap, large enough to be really useful. The buttons are corozo, four-hole, slightly domed, in a tobacco tone that answers the olive of the cloth. On the shoulders, buttoned epaulettes take up a regulation detail of the original model. The topstitching is tone on tone, with no decorative contrast. The assembly uses a French military thread, and the brand label is designed and made in France. An olive twill that fades to grey-beige The cloth is a light cotton twill, woven in France, in a tight weave with a smooth, slightly lustrous surface. Its shade is a desaturated sage olive green, neither frank khaki nor forest green, in the spirit of OG-107 olive. With washing, it gradually fades toward grey-beige; a controlled patina gives it a soft relief from the start, without weakening the fibre. Cut and sizing Loose cut, with drop shoulders and volume in the sleeves, and about 12 cm (4.7 in) of ease around the chest: it wraps without squeezing and can be worn over one or two layers. The sleeves are lengthened to the European standard. Take your usual size; take one size up if you have broad shoulders or to wear it over a thick shirt or sweater. From S to 2XL. Care Machine washable at home: 30 °C (86 °F) inside out, short cycle, mild detergent with no bleaching agent, and separately the first few times, because dyed cotton bleeds slightly. No tumble dryer and no fabric softener, which clogs the fibre and reduces its breathability. Air dry in the shade; iron at medium heat, on the reverse.
