Vintage Mens 1950s Harris Tweed Sports Jacket Patch Pockets Oatmeal Grey Flecked Herringbone 37"

A vintage 1950s Harris Tweed sports jacket, probably made in Canada from 100% pure wool fabric in herringbone weave in an uncommon oatmeal & grey mixture with dark red flecks. Single breasted 2-button fastening with slim lapels - centre vent - medium padded shoulders - fairly boxy cut - triple patch pockets - part lined with pale grey rayon fabric with 1 chest pocket. The Harris label bears the 'Applied in accordance' text which I believe came into use in about 1954; the maker's label is undated. Please study the photographs carefully - they form an important part of the description. Size: Suggested 37 Regular - photographed on a 38" mannequin. All measurements are external, taken with the garment laid flat, to be doubled where appropriate for circumference (with approx. metric equivalent): Chest - armpit to armpit: 20 1/2" (52cm) Shoulder to shoulder: 17 3/4" (45cm) Shoulder to cuff: 24 1/2" (62cm) Armpit to cuff: 17 1/2" (44.5cm) Waist: 19" (48cm) Back length - bottom of collar to hem: 30 1/2" (77.5cm) Condition: In very good condition overall, with signs of wear & some minor flaws - there is a virtually invisible repair near the right side seam towards the hem (arrowed)- some scattered faint brown marks which are quite well disguised by the weave - the lining has an ink stain & some scuffs & marks. Has been thoroughly steamed & brushed prior to listing.
