Hand-Embroidered Cushion Cover by Hayam

A square cushion cover in a warm beige fabric, decorated with raised embroidery in purple, pink, red and orange, with gold and silver accents. The design draws on traditional Yemeni stitches, motifs and colour palettes, arranging small floral squares into stepped geometric forms around a central diamond. This hand-embroidered cushion cover was made by Hayam, a mother of three whose children are enrolled in YENOF’s education programme. Having previously lacked access to formal education, Hayam had her first classroom experience through YENOF’s embroidery programme. She has since developed valuable skills that allow her to contribute to her family’s income while building greater confidence and independence. Her experience has also strengthened her commitment to ensuring that her children continue their education. Handmade and richly textured, this is a one-of-a-kind piece, with only one available.
