Sugar Glass Necklace

Natural golden fluorite necklace with hematite, finished with sterling silver Rectangular 13 x 18 mm tiles of natural golden fluorite, in warm translucent tones from honey to amber, with soft bands and clouds of mauve and green drifting through. The banding records how the crystal grew: as conditions shifted, traces of other elements were caught in thin layers, each leaving its own colour. Fluorite also gave its name to fluorescence, since many pieces glow under ultraviolet light. Between the tiles sit polished hexagon beads of natural hematite with a titanium coating. Finished with a sterling silver lobster clasp. Every tile has its own banding, so every necklace comes out slightly different. Hand strung in our studio in Oslo.
