KENYA - GATOMBOYA AA [FILTER]
We recommend this lot for filter coffee. Origin: Nyeri, Kenya Varieties: Batian, SL28, SL34, Ruiru 11 Producer: Smallholder farmers Notes: Red fruits, caramel, herbal Process: Washed The Gatomboya processing center is managed by the Barichu Farmer Cooperative Society (F.C.S.), a cooperative that brings together around 1,000 smallholder farmers, of whom about 900–950 are active members. The farmers grow coffee on very small plots and also produce macadamia nuts, maize, bananas, and beans. In Gatomboya, the coffee cherries are sorted before processing. First, they are pulped and then left to ferment overnight. Once fermentation is complete, they are washed and placed on raised beds to dry. Drying takes between 10 and 12 days.
