Françoise Couperin: Leçons De Ténèbres
Composed around 1714, François Couperin’s Leçons de Ténèbres stand among the supreme achievements of French Baroque sacred vocal music. Written for the Holy Week services at the Royal Abbey of Longchamp and sung by its nuns, the work sets texts from the Lamentations of Jeremiah, mourning the destruction of Jerusalem with an intimacy and pathos unique in the repertoire. This recording is one of the very few available in high-resolution audio. Miguel Ulla Victor Jiménez Aurea Vox
