Schwung Globe Single Pendant - Marble Glass
A Quietly Luxurious Single GlobeThe Globe Single Pendant keeps the same idea across all three of its glass options: one hand blown globe hanging from a slim brass rod off a compact ceiling canopy. In Marble glass, that simple format becomes something closer to a piece of milky stone lit from within, a fitting that earns its place through the depth of the material rather than through pattern or scale. In Marble GlassMarble glass carries a soft, milky veining through the globe, an internal pattern that catches the light unevenly so the glow shifts in tone across the surface rather than sitting flat and uniform. It reads as more layered than Opal Mat and calmer than Dries Ribbon, sitting between the two in character. The veining is a natural result of the way the glass is worked while still hot, so each globe carries its own slightly individual pattern. Choose Your FinishThe brass frame is available in Lacquered Burnished Brass, Black Gunmetal, or Polished Nickel. Lacquered Burnished Brass brings a warm, softly aged tone that pairs naturally with the milky glass. Black Gunmetal gives a darker, more grounded outline that lets the veining in the globe stand out. Polished Nickel is cooler and more reflective, a good match for brighter, more contemporary rooms. How It WorksEach pendant takes a single E14 bulb, supplied as a 5W LED (maximum rated load 10W), giving a warm 3000K white light at around 450 to 500 lumens, and runs on standard 220 to 240V mains. It is dimmable, but only with a compatible trailing edge or ELV LED dimmer. The glass globe measures 20cm across, and the overall drop adjusts from around 42.5cm up to 132.5cm using the extension rods included in the box. Total weight is approximately 2.5kg, and the fitting is rated IP20, for dry indoor use only. It is hard wired rather than plug in, and arrives complete with canopy, rods, and bulb. Where It Works BestThe depth in Marble glass suits rooms where the fitting itself is meant to be looked at up close: a bedside drop where the veining catches the eye at low level, a dining room where the pendant sits at eye height, or a hallway where a single considered pendant makes the point rather than a bank of downlights. It also works well grouped in twos or threes at slightly staggered drops above a kitchen island or table. Made by SchwungSchwung was founded in 2014 in Namyslow, Poland, by Belgian designer Dominique Sente and Dutch designer Rudi Nijssen. Every fitting is made to order in solid brass and mouth blown glass at the Namyslow workshop. According to Schwung, the Marble glass was developed to give a single globe more visual depth without adding any extra decoration to the brass frame itself, keeping the added richness entirely in the material. Good to Know Made to order in Poland, estimated lead time of 4 to 6 weeks Not returnable, as with all Schwung fittings, since each one is made to order Globe diameter approximately 20cm, adjustable drop from around 42.5cm to 132.5cm using the extension rods supplied Total weight approximately 2.5kg Takes 1 x E14 LED bulb, 5W supplied, maximum rated load 10W, 3000K warm white, roughly 450 to 500 lumens IP20 rated, dimmable with a compatible trailing edge or ELV LED dimmer Veining pattern is unique to each globe as a natural result of the hand blown process Brass care: clean regularly with a soft cloth or duster, a damp cloth can also be used, dry the frame fully before switching back on, do not use cleaning agents on brass parts Glass care: clean the outside with a soft dry cloth, use a damp cloth first on dirtier glass, a gentle glass cleaner will lift grease Moonlight Design recommends installation by a registered NICEIC electrician Questions People AskWill the veining pattern look the same on every globe? Not exactly. The veined effect is created during the hand blowing process, so each globe has its own slightly individual pattern, which is normal for this glass type. How much light does the Marble glass let through compared to Opal Mat? Marble is slightly less uniform than Opal Mat, letting light through in softer, layered tones rather than one even glow, though overall brightness from the same bulb is comparable.
