Swedish Rococo Giltwood Mirror, Stockholm, c. 1750s
A finely carved giltwood mirror with an elaborate Rococo crest of shells and scrollwork, typical of Swedish 18th century craftsmanship. The original mirror glass is divided in two plates, a common practice of the period to reduce the glass tax levied on larger single panes. Both plates retain their original mercury glass with a beautiful aged patina. Good antique condition with wear consistent with age.
