CREATIVE LIVING: Lines, Color, and Balance - Inspired by Piet Mondrian What can you create with just lines, shapes, primary colors, and space? In this fun, hands-on Creative Living workshop, we’ll explore the ideas behind Piet Mondrian's distinctive abstract art and use them to inspire artwork of our own. We’ll begin on paper, experimenting with rulers, circle templates, and other drawing tools to create geometric compositions. Along the way, we’ll explore how Mondrian used balance, proportion, negative space, line, and primary color to turn simple elements into powerful compositions. Then it’s time to create! Using what you’ve discovered, you’ll design an original Mondrian-inspired composition on a canvas panel, adding crisp black lines and bold areas of color with acrylic paint and markers. We’ll Explore: Line, shape, and geometric composition Primary colors and their visual impact Balance, proportion and negative space Using drawing tools to build a composition Turning an inspiration into your own original artwork No drawing or painting experience is necessary. All materials are provided—just come ready to experiment, play with design, and create!
