Takako Copeland is a Japanese illustrator and printmaker based in London. Having grown up in the Japanese countryside surrounded by nature, she is especially conscious of the changing seasons, which inspires her colour palettes and designs. A Central Saint Martins design graduate, Takako began working as an illustrator creating images with layers of colour, a process that drew her towards Letterpress and Riso printing techniques. Her illustrations often focus on original characters, everyday scenes and family life that resonate with her vibrant, joyful and humorous personality and lifestyle. As a member of the London Centre for Book Arts, Takako can often be found at the studio, printing with a cylinder proof press or carving her works into lino block. Takako’s greeting cards are printed with layers of colour in London and feature her original illustrations with hand foil blocking.
