Good History has been built to reflect the new History 7–10 syllabus for New South Wales with an emphasis on helping students develop historical understanding, skills in inquiry, and critical analysis. It aims to foster a deep appreciation of historical events, figures, and themes that have shaped both Australia and the broader world. It emphasises the development of skills such as historical research, analysis of primary and secondary sources, and the ability to construct well-supported historical arguments. It seeks to engage students in exploring diverse perspectives and understanding the complexities of historical narratives. Good History uses developmental frameworks to scaffold progression. Each chapter has been crafted around rubrics (Learning ladders) that allow students to understand and chart their own progress, and provides differentiation opportunities for teachers. Our expert First Nations educators have authored rich content on First Nations Peoples’ experiences of colonisation and war, as well as their significant contribution to key ideas and movements that have shaped, and continue to shape, culture, community and relationships with Country.
