TP-Link CPE710 5GHz AC 867Mbps 23dBi Outdoor CPE
TP-Link CPE710 5GHz AC 867Mbps 23dBi Outdoor CPE Long-Distance 5GHz Wireless Bridging with 23dBi High-Gain Antenna The TP-Link CPE710 is a 5GHz 802.11ac outdoor Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) unit designed for long-distance point-to-point and point-to-multipoint wireless links. With a 23 dBi high-gain directional antenna, 867 Mbps AC wireless speeds, IP65 weatherproofing, 15kV ESD and 6kV lightning protection, and Pharos Control centralised management, it is purpose-built for Australian outdoor wireless deployments including building-to-building links, rural broadband distribution, and IP surveillance backhaul. Key Features 23 dBi high-gain directional antenna — 9° azimuth / 7° elevation beamwidth for precise long-distance targeting 802.11ac 5GHz — up to 867 Mbps wireless throughput (80 MHz channel) 2×2 MIMO — improved signal reliability and throughput at range IP65 weatherproof enclosure — fully protected against dust and water jets for outdoor installation 15kV ESD protection and 6kV lightning protection — essential for exposed outdoor deployments Passive PoE powered — 16–27V DC via included PoE adapter; flexible cable run deployment 1 × 10/100/1000 Mbps shielded Ethernet port (LAN/PoE) Snap-lock assembly — fast installation with a sturdy mount that remains stable in strong winds Pharos Control — free centralised management software for multi-unit deployments Qualcomm 750 MHz CPU with 128 MB DDR2 RAM and 16 MB Flash Adjustable transmit power up to 27 dBm (1 dBm increments) Multiple operating modes — AP, Station, WDS Bridge, WDS AP, Repeater Use Cases Building-to-Building Wireless Links: Connect two buildings on the same site or across a campus with a high-throughput 5GHz point-to-point link — eliminating the need for trenching or fibre runs. Rural & Remote Broadband Distribution: Distribute internet connectivity from a central point to remote structures, outbuildings, or neighbouring properties across Australian rural properties. IP Surveillance Backhaul: Provide wireless backhaul for IP cameras or NVRs in locations where cabling is impractical — car parks, perimeter fences, or remote outbuildings. Point-to-Multipoint Networks: Deploy multiple CPE710 units in WDS AP mode to distribute connectivity to several remote endpoints from a single base station. Temporary & Construction Sites: Rapid deployment with snap-lock mounting and passive PoE makes it ideal for temporary wireless infrastructure on construction or event sites. The CPE710’s 23 dBi high-gain directional antenna and 27 dBm transmit power enable long-distance links. In ideal line-of-sight conditions, point-to-point links of several kilometres are achievable. Actual range depends on terrain, obstructions, interference, and regulatory transmit power limits in your area. Does the CPE710 use standard 802.3af/at PoE? No. The CPE710 uses passive PoE (16–27V DC) rather than standard 802.3af/at active PoE. A passive PoE adapter is included in the box. Do not connect the CPE710 directly to a standard 802.3af/at PoE switch port without the included adapter, as voltage incompatibility may damage the unit. Do I need two CPE710 units for a point-to-point link? Yes. A point-to-point wireless bridge requires one CPE710 at each end of the link — one configured as an AP (or WDS AP) and one as a Station (or WDS Bridge). Both units and their passive PoE adapters are sold separately. What is Pharos Control? Pharos Control is TP-Link’s free centralised management software for Pharos-series outdoor CPE devices. It allows network administrators to discover, configure, monitor, and manage multiple CPE units from a single interface — useful for deployments with several units across a site or multiple sites. Is the CPE710 suitable for Australian outdoor conditions? Yes. The IP65-rated enclosure protects against dust ingress and water jets, making it suitable for Australian outdoor environments including coastal, tropical, and high-wind locations. The 6kV lightning protection and 15kV ESD protection provide additional resilience for exposed installations.
