Vintage Color Haori - Red and White Drifting Clouds -

This haori has a nostalgic, retro feeling even to me as a Japanese person. The soft, flowing silk has a deep red color without strong shine, giving it an elegant and rich tone. It feels very smooth and pleasant to the touch. The pattern is a cloud motif created using the traditional shibori (tie-dye) technique. Clouds are considered a very auspicious motif in Japanese design. As they change shape but never disappear, they symbolize good fortune and are sometimes seen as a sign of good things to come. Inside the clouds are charming flowers and vine motifs. The pattern on the lining is also beautiful, creating an interesting contrast. It could even be worn reversibly for a different look. This piece was likely made after 1970, probably around the late Showa era (1970s–1980s). Considering that it is more than 50 years old, it remains in good vintage condition.
