Shinigami (Japanese: 死神, lit. 'kami of death') are kami that invite humans toward death in certain aspects of Japanese religion and culture. Similar to the figure of the Grim Reaper in the west, Shinigami are neither good nor evil, but definitive. The Shinigami became famous in the west due to the anime Bleach. In Shinto and Japanese mythology, Izanami gave humans death, so she is sometimes seen as a Shinigami. This ring is handcrafted of brass, a malleable and durable alloy primarily composed of copper and zinc, and one of the very first alloys created by humanity.
