Elm Leaf Goldenrod

Solidago ulmifolia Elm Leaf Goldenrod is a woodland species of goldenrod growing vertically and reaching heights around 3 feet. As its name suggests, the leaves of this species resemble those of Elm trees. It is an important keystone species for native pollinators that supports a myriad army of native bees, butterflies and moths. It is quite shade tolerant, unlike most other goldenrods thriving in the dappled shade of woodland habitats, and tolerates many different soil types including clay, sand, or rocky soils, as long as the soil has sufficient drainage. Copious amounts of yellow flowers appear in summer extending into the early fall providing vertical splashes of color to shady areas of gardens where other plants would struggle to bloom.
