Peru | Juan Quilla Laura
Region: Puno, Peru Process: Washed Variety: Bourbon Altitude: 1800 We Taste: Meyer Lemon, Dried Mango, Black Tea, Brown Sugar Juan Quilla Laura began cultivating bourbon trees on his 2 hectare farm, Finca Quillabamba, for eight years. However, he has been working in coffee since 1984 as a day laborer, helping to pick and process cherries on other farms. The Puno region is very remote with extreme terrain, however, it is also home to some of Peru's best coffee. Although in the last two years, Puno has gained a lot of attention with the SL9 variety grown there, we're really pleased to share a more traditional variety that also represents the beautiful coffee this region has to offer. In the cup we're finding flavors of sweet lemon, dried mango, and black tea, with an underlying brown sugary base.
