Detail your Panther or Jagdpanzer IV/70 with this museum-grade ammunition and spent casing set, based on the 7.5 cm KwK 42 L/70 — the pinnacle of German 75mm anti-tank artillery. This 60-piece resin set replaces basic plastic kit parts with crisp, accurate replicas, perfect for vehicle interior sponson racks, crew re-arming dioramas, or scattered battle debris. Kit Contents Pzgr. 39/42 APCBC x10 – armor-piercing, capped ballistic cap Pzgr. 40/42 AP (APCR) x10 – tungsten-core sub-caliber shot Gr. 38 HL HEAT x10 – shaped-charge round Spr.Gr. 42 HE x10 – high-explosive shell Spent casings x20 – 75x640mm R The KwK 42 was developed by Rheinmetall-Borsig for the Panzer V Panther, with a Pak 42 variant fitted to the late-war Jagdpanzer IV/70 (V) and (A). Its long L/70 barrel and 75x640mm case delivered a muzzle velocity of 935 m/s — a flat, hyper-velocity trajectory capable of punching through the frontal armor of any Allied tank at standard combat ranges. The Pzgr. 39/42 APCBC was the standard round, its wider driving bands adding weight over the earlier Pzgr. 39 to cope with the gun’s higher pressures, with a delayed HE filler detonating after penetration. The Pzgr. 40/42 traded explosive filler for a dense tungsten core, giving flat, high-velocity penetration against heavy tanks like the IS-2 at closer ranges — though tungsten shortages made it a rationed round late in the war. The Gr. 38 HL HEAT round used chemical energy rather than velocity, giving identical penetration at 100m or 2,500m. The Spr.Gr. 42 HE shell handled soft targets — gun crews, trucks, machine-gun nests. Ejecting the long casings filled the turret with cordite smoke, so crews cleared them out fast, tossing them out through the hatches during any lull in combat. Painting Tips Pzgr. 39/42 APCBC: satin black body, white “Pzgr. 39/42” stencil, thin red ring above the driving bands Pzgr. 40/42 AP: matt black body, white “Pzgr. 40/42” stencil, white line marking the tungsten core boundary Gr. 38 HL HEAT: field grey or satin black body, white “Gr. 38 Hl/B” or “Hl/C” stencil, wide white band at the nose cone Spr.Gr. 42 HE: olive green or ordnance yellow body (black stencil on yellow, white on green), thin red ring below a silver nose fuze Casings: late-war steel — dull greenish-grey lacquer or dark Parkerized grey (brass was rare due to copper shortages), white base stencil reading “7,5 cm KwK 42”
