Nicolas Joly Clos de la Bergerie 2024
Region: Loire Valley Variety: Chenin Blanc What's in the glass: Powerful, complex and unmistakably Savennières, this is 100% Chenin Blanc from the schist and quartz soils of Roche-aux-Moines, farmed biodynamically by one of the movement's great pioneers. The 2024 shows ripe pear, quince and preserved citrus layered with dried flowers, almond, gentle spice and a distinctive stony, iodine-like minerality. There's generosity and texture through the palate, but it's pulled into shape by vibrant acidity, fine phenolic bitterness and a long, intensely saline finish. A serious, characterful Chenin that will reward plenty of air now—or many years in the cellar. Farming: Biodynamic Vegan Friendly: Yes
