PRE ORDER (SHIPPING IN SEPTEMBER) Nausea Records is proud to present the first-ever vinyl release from Danza Morta, one of the hidden names of Italy’s early post-punk underground. Born in Cosenza, Southern Italy, in 1984, Danza Morta emerged from the ashes of punk band Antiwar, founded around the Veltri brothers Massimo (bass) and Alfredo (guitar), vocalist Michele Pingitore, and drummer Massimiliano Coppa. The band quickly developed a sound far removed from straightforward punk, bleak, tribal and primitive at first, then evolving into something darker, more psychedelic and visceral with the addition of keyboardist Roberto Raia. In 1985, the band recorded seven songs live and without overdubs at the professional RAI radio studio in Cosenza, preserving the immediacy and raw atmosphere of their sound. These recordings, together with two live tracks, form the basis of this 12” LP, carefully restored from the original tapes and gathered together here for the first time. Their brief existence included appearances alongside other Italian underground acts, support act for the band Amebix, a handful of concerts and, ultimately, dissolution at the end of 1985. What remains is a powerful snapshot of a moment when punk was mutating into something colder, stranger and more experimental.
