To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the first Xiaguan Jin Si (Golden Ribbon) Tuocha, originally released in 2004, Xiaguan introduced this special commemorative edition. It pays tribute to a classic recipe that has become a favourite among fans of traditional Xiaguan tuocha. Moderately tightly compressed, this high-quality tuocha has a neat, glossy appearance with visible fine buds and the distinctive golden ribbon pressed into the tea. Once brewed, it produces a clear honey-coloured liquor with a fresh, rich aroma. Compared with other iconic Xiaguan tuochas, Jin Si is known for its sweeter, smoother and mellower character, while still retaining the depth and distinctive personality associated with Xiaguan teas. The finish is pleasantly sweet and lingering, accompanied by an uplifting sensation. Jin Si Golden Ribbon Story Jin Si was first released in 2004 through a collaboration between Xiaguan Tea Factory and tea connoisseur Ye Binghuai. Ye selected high-quality raw materials from the factory to create a more refined, premium-style Xiaguan tuocha, distinguished by the golden ribbon embedded during pressing. According to historical accounts, the practice of placing a golden ribbon inside a tuocha dates back to the period of the War of Resistance against Japan. At that time, the merchants in Xiaguan reportedly inserted golden ribbons bearing their trademark into selected batches of tuocha as a promotional initiative. Customers who collected ten ribbons could exchange them for tea. This historical practice later became associated with the name “Jin Si,” meaning “Golden Ribbon,” which remains one of the most recognisable features of this Xiaguan series today.
