Intro to Letterpress: Ornamental Monogram Cards Date: Saturday, Sept 19, 10 am–3 pm (4-hour studio time, 1-hour lunch break) Instructor: Lily Smith-Kirkley of Lilco Studio Location: Lily’s home print studio (Brettonwoods, Oak Cliff) Letterpress print your own Ornamental Vintage Initial Notecards! Learn the fundamentals of printing on a proof press using photopolymer plates. Set up a press, mix your own color of oil-based ink, operate the press, pull prints, and clean the press. Two weeks before class, students will select a lettering style. Custom printing plates will be ordered and eEach student will get to keep their plates. All materials are included. This workshop will take place at Lily Smith-Kirkley’s home print studio in the Brettonwoods neighborhood of South Oak Cliff — address will be shared after registration. An optional boxed lunch from Oak Cliff’s Trade's Delicatessen is available for an additional charge of $25. Please select from the menu below. Lily is a letterpress printer, graphic designer, and illustrator. Through her studio, Lilco, she has exhibited with Ladies of Letterpress and has carried her work in shops nationwide, including the Nasher Museum Store. *If you would like additional materials such paints, paper or brushes, please purchase from our website and we will add to your kit that you receive on class day.
