Presenter David Sheehan is an internationally recognised educator and presenter in myofascial cupping therapy. He holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Human Movement), a Diploma of Health Science (Remedial Massage), and a Diploma of Education. In 2002, before cupping became widely adopted within allied health circles, David was a driving force in adapting traditional cupping methods for evidence-informed application to the musculoskeletal system, and more recently, the fascial system of the body Since 2002, David has developed and taught his own approach, the Myofascial Cupping Technique™ (MCT), delivering education to manual therapists including physiotherapists, osteopaths, podiatrists, chiropractors, remedial and myotherapists across Australia, the UK, New Zealand, Canada, and the USA. The Myofascial Cupping Technique™ (MCT) applies the controlled gliding of negatively pressurised cups across soft tissue, assisted by massage creams and, when indicated, joint mobilisation. A former lead sports trainer with multiple football clubs, he regularly presents at manual therapy conferences and has advised professional associations on the safe and effective use of cupping. David has also served three terms as Director and Vice-President of Massage & Myotherapy Australia. His clinical and teaching focus is on energy-efficient cupping applications, with particular expertise in the treatment of scar tissue. Presentation Dave provides a comprehensive guide to bridging the gap between traditional manual therapy and modern soft-tissue science. Dave will explore the evidence-based integration of myofascial cupping into daily practice, focusing on how decompressive force enhances fascial gliding and modulates pain. Beyond application techniques, the session prioritises patient safety by detailing the critical dangers and contraindications associated with improper use. Dave will discuss why professional training is essential to avoid tissue trauma and ensure the technique is applied within a safe clinical framework. Whether treating acute sports injuries or chronic tension, you will gain an understanding on how to move beyond "static suction" and incorporate dynamic and glide cupping into your existing treatment workflows with confidence and precision.
