Indonesia, Small Black Matte Spacer Beads with White Stripes, 4-5mm on 23-inch strands

Small 4-5mm matte finish spacer beads from Indonesia, black with white, actually grey stripes on 23-inch strands, but the overall effect is of black & white These can serve the same place in designs as the African Small Strands and come with sometimes lower price tags because they are new rather than vintage or older These beads are an evolution of the Indonesian effort to replicate the increasingly scarce "gooseberry beads" (clear with white stripes) from the African trade. Somebody decided that if they could make those, why not make other colors too? It's unfortunate that the name "gooseberry" is now applied to a whole line of opaque and multi-color beads that bear no resemblance to either gooseberries or gooseberry beads. I'm also not a fan of most of the color combos being produced, but am working with some of the major exporters to try to get colors that work and have selected some from the existing line that I think could work.
