Axolotl Brooch

This brooch is fabricated in sterling silver from start to finish, built up from sheet and wire with no casting. Each part is cut, shaped, engraved, and assembled by hand, so the piece keeps a direct link to how it was made. At its center, an axolotl is held within a network of interlacing lotus flowers. The structure is dense but fluid, with lines that weave around the figure rather than framing it, giving the whole piece a sense of continuity without becoming rigid. Garnet cabochons bring a darker, grounded depth, while blue and orange sapphires create sharper points of contrast. Green tsavorites run through the vegetal elements, reinforcing the movement of the lines and keeping the palette connected.
