The Diseased Fungiticks Swarm is a trio of writhing plague-born infestation markers, each base a seething mound of bloated tick-like organisms piled 27mm high from top to bottom in a grotesque living mass of corruption and biological horror. Dozens of individual creatures make up each swarm token, their round distended bodies packed tightly together in overlapping layers, stubby segmented legs scrabbling outward in every direction and tiny hooked claws reaching blindly for the nearest warm host to latch onto and drain. These are not warriors in any conventional sense but rather a weapon of attrition, a diseased tide of parasitic organisms that overwhelms through sheer infectious numbers. Each of the three swarm bases presents a subtly different composition and silhouette, ensuring the group reads as a dynamic and varied unit on the tabletop rather than three identical tokens. The largest central mound rises to a peak with a single larger organism cresting the pile, its clawed forelimbs raised as if directing the mass below. The flanking swarms spread lower and wider across their oval bases, the creatures at the edges actively dispersing outward in a creeping advance that suggests the infestation is actively expanding in real time. The Diseased Fungiticks function on the battlefield as objective markers, summoning tokens, wound counters or swarm units depending on the game system in use. Their compact 27mm height ensures they never obstruct line of sight while still providing immediate visual impact and narrative weight to any table they appear on. Their presence signals that a location has been claimed by plague, that the ground itself has become hostile and compromised. Visually these models sit in a fascinating niche between terrain piece and unit, equally at home as battlefield markers, basing details for larger diseased centrepiece models, or standalone swarm counters for skirmish and narrative play. Supplied as three unpainted, unassembled resin miniatures, the Diseased Fungiticks Swarm is an essential and characterful addition to any plague-themed collection. Painting Guide: Diseased Fungiticks Swarm The Fungiticks Swarm rewards a fast and effective contrast-heavy approach, since the sheer number of individual creatures on each base means efficient layering and washing techniques will serve better than painstaking detail work on every organism. 1. Prime Prime grey or white to preserve the rounded organic forms of the individual tick bodies, making contrast paints and washes flow naturally into recesses between creatures. 2. Armour Base Basecoat tick bodies using Contrast Plaguebearer Flesh or a thin coat of Nurgling Green straight over the primer, allowing the paint to naturally shade between the tightly packed organisms in a single pass. Drybrush the upper surfaces of the swarm mound with Screaming Skull or Ushabti Bone to pick out the highest rounded backs and create an immediate sense of volume and depth across the mass. 3. Trim and Details Paint the scrabbling legs and claw tips in Rhinox Hide or Abaddon Black, using a fine brush to pick out clusters of limbs at the swarm edges where individual creatures are most clearly defined. Apply Athonian Camoshade as a general wash across the entire swarm surface to unify all the individual body colours and deepen the shadows between packed organisms. 4. Weapons These organisms have no weapons as such, but the hooked claws and biting mouthparts can be picked out in Ushabti Bone or Screaming Skull to draw attention to the most predatory details at the swarm edges. Add a subtle sickly green OSL glow effect to the underside of the swarm mass using thinned Moot Green to suggest bioluminescent diseased secretions pooling beneath the creatures. 5. Weathering Stipple patches of Nurgle's Rot technical paint into the deeper recesses between individual organisms to suggest accumulated biological fluid and active infection spreading through the mass. Apply thinned Carroburg Crimson selectively around claw tips and mouthparts on the most visible edge creatures to suggest recent feeding activity. 6. Bases The oval bases suit a contaminated earth treatment perfectly: apply dark brown texture paste around the swarm edges, drybrush with Baneblade Brown and Ushabti Bone, then add patches of Nurgle's Rot around the base of each swarm mound to suggest the diseased organisms have already begun digesting the ground beneath them.
