Mani Barbed Broaches 21mm & 52mm 12/Box Stainless Steel
Mani Barbed Broaches are pulp extirpation instruments used to remove vital and necrotic pulp tissue from the root canal during endodontic treatment. Manufactured in Japan by Mani Inc., these broaches are fabricated from Mani's proprietary hard-fiber stainless steel wire that is precision notched along its working length to form barbs angled toward the handle. When inserted into the canal, rotated, and withdrawn, the barbs entangle pulp tissue and remove it as a single mass, leaving the canal ready for shaping with K-Files, Flexile Files, or D Finders. Barbed broaches are extirpation instruments, not enlarging instruments. They should only be used in the straight portion of the canal and inserted no further than approximately two thirds of the working length to avoid file separation and apical perforation. The instrument is rotated a full 360 degrees and then withdrawn in a single motion, ideally removing the entire pulp as it becomes entangled in the barbs. Proper sizing is essential: the broach should fit the canal directly without requiring negotiation. Mani's uniform barb processing, inspected by image processing machinery, ensures consistent barb geometry across every instrument in every package. Mani Barbed Broaches are available in two body lengths to suit different canal anatomies. The short 21mm version with color coded metal handles is the standard choice for routine endodontic access. The long 52mm version, packaged 12 pieces per package and 6 packages per box, suits cases requiring greater handpiece clearance or extended canal length. ISO size grading runs from #000 (extra extra extra fine) through #00, #0, #1, #2, and #3, with color coding on the handle for instant chairside size identification. Both versions are autoclavable at 121 degrees Celsius for 20 minutes or 126 degrees Celsius for 15 minutes.
