The body panels were hand-shaped on wooden forms, using a technique derived from the coachbuilding tradition, instead of being produced through industrial processes. Pininfarina's revolutionary design abandons decorations and the separation between different parts of the body, favoring a continuous, harmonious, and almost monocoque structure. The thin aluminum body thus appears to be shaped by nature rather than by human hand.
