1958 Omega Seamaster All Stainless steel “Hippocampus” Case Ref. 2846/8-1S

This vintage Omega Seamaster Ref. 2846/8-1SC wristwatch, circa 1958, is a handsome stainless steel automatic centre seconds watch. Introduced by Omega in 1956, this particular example dates to around 1958. In lovely original condition, it features a fantastic silvered dial with a cross-hair design at the centre. The applied numerals are a combination of Arabic, faceted square and unusually slim baton indexes, with the baton indexes having recessed luminescent edges. The stainless steel case has broad lugs with chamfered edges and a centred case back displaying the Omega Seamaster logo. The case retains excellent definition to its angles and edges, though the winding crown is an unsigned replacement.
