Liatris hirsuta Camdenton MO

Liatris hirsuta is an oddity, as blazing stars go. Hairy Gayfeather is a midwestern species, that hails from rocky glades and upland prairies from Iowa south to the Gulf of (inset this weeks' name here). The 2' stalks are somewhat bristly, due to the massive number of stiff white hairs...somethig many of us share, as we age. For us, the stalks top out around 2' tall with odd purple flowers that look as if they've been smashed underfoot. Our offering is seed grown from a collection from Camdenton, Missouri.
