Mid-to late 20th Century Meditation Balls 1970S-1990S
This set is a pair of Baoding balls (also known as Chinese health or meditation balls), a traditional hand-exercise tool with roots dating back to the Ming Dynasty (1368–1644). Size: approximately 50mm (2 inches), which is the standard "medium" size for adults and suitable for most beginners Design & Symbolism: The highly reflective, mirror-like finish suggests these are chrome or stainless steel over a hollow iron core. Auditory Element: If you shake them, you will likely hear a soft chime. This is created by a small metal spring and ball inside the hollow core, designed to produce a "yin" and "yang" tone for relaxation. Presentation: They are housed in a traditional red & black brocade "silk" box, which is the standard presentation for these sets when given as gifts or sold as artisanal collectibles.
