The 4 m board clads most garden-building walls in single lengths. Stocked at our yard in Didcot, Oxfordshire. £42.31 per m² inc. VAT (£22.00 per board, 0.52 m² each; prices October 2026) 130 mm covering width · 0.52 m² per board · 1.92 boards per m² 1.72 kg per linear metre (about 6.9 kg per board) — weigh a board in our yard L-trims in all four colours for corners and reveals 20-year residential / 10-year commercial limited guarantee — full terms Four colours Black — A deep, solid black. Sharp against white render and pale paving; darker colours get warmer in full sun. Anthracite — A dark, cool grey. Sits well with grey window frames and bi-fold doors, zinc and grey render. Teak — A mid-brown timber tone. Warm against red brick, cream render and planted borders. Yellow Cedar — A pale honey tone with straw highlights. Lifts small or shaded gardens; works with buff brick and Cotswold stone. Colours on screen differ from the real board — order a sample and hold it against your own wall in daylight.Covering width is not nominal widthPart of every board sits under its neighbour, so a board covers 130 mm of wall, not its nominal 146 mm. Plan with 1.92 boards per m² of wall, minus doors and windows, and add 10% for windows, doors and angled tops. Battens always run across the boards — for vertical cladding, fix horizontal battens over vertical counter-battens so air and water drain down behind the boards. Clad the building in Wall Cladding and pick out an entrance, feature wall or planter in Oxford Heritage 3D™ Slatted Cladding, which shares Black, Anthracite, Teak and Yellow Cedar; the finishes differ (embossed boards, brushed slats), so hold samples side by side first.Fixing at a glance Battens at 400 mm centres maximum, with at least 25 mm of ventilated air gap behind the boards, open top and bottom (fit insect mesh). Start at least 20 mm above paving and 150 mm above soil or turf, using starter clips. Pre-drill a 5 mm clearance hole through the board only, then fix at every batten with M4.2 × 32 mm black Torx self-drilling screws. Leave 3–5 mm between board ends over a double batten and 8–10 mm to walls, trims and eaves. Acclimatise flat and under cover for 48 hours. Finish external corners and reveals with L-trims, 3000 × 50 × 50 mm, in Black, Anthracite, Teak or Yellow Cedar. Composite cladding is combustible, we do not currently publish a reaction-to-fire class for it, and it cannot be used on the external walls of residential buildings with a storey 11 m or more above ground, or on relevant buildings 18 m or taller (Regulation 7(2) and Approved Document B, England); rules are stricter within 1 m of a boundary. Check with your building control body before you clad any part of a house, and with your local planning authority in a conservation area or for a listed building.Technical specification Product codes OCW-CLWAL-400-BLK · -ANT · -TEA · -YCD Board size 4000 × 146 × 21 mm (nominal) Covering width 130 mm Coverage 0.52 m² per board · 1.92 boards per m² Weight 1.72 kg per linear metre (about 6.9 kg per board) Material Second-generation capped wood-plastic composite; wood fibre and HDPE core Surface 3D embossed woodgrain under a co-extruded protective cap; satin finish; one colour per board Fixing M4.2 × 32 mm black Torx self-drilling screws on battens at 400 mm centres Reaction to fire (EN 13501-1) Not published Guarantee 20 years residential · 10 years commercial; limited, pro-rata QuestionsHow many 4 m wall cladding boards do I need?Allow 1.92 boards per m² of wall, based on the 130 mm covering width. A 10 m² plain wall needs 20 boards and 2 bags of 100 screws; add 10% for doors, windows and angled tops. Can composite wall cladding go on my house? On garden buildings and low-rise outbuildings, yes. It cannot be used on residential buildings with a storey 11 m or more above ground, and rules are stricter within 1 m of a boundary. Check with building control before you clad any part of a house.Does composite wall cladding need painting or staining? No painting, staining, oiling or sealing — coatings will not bond to the capped surface. A wash with warm soapy water keeps it looking its best; never use acidic brick or patio cleaners. A little colour settling in the first months is normal. Is composite wall cladding an alternative to timber shiplap?Yes. Each 4000 × 146 × 21 mm board interlocks with the next to give a flush wall with a 130 mm covering width, an alternative to painted or stained timber shiplap and tongue-and-groove cladding on garden rooms, sheds and outbuildings — with no repainting. Can I fit wall cladding over brick or blockwork?Yes, on a batten frame: fix composite battens to the masonry over a breather membrane at 400 mm centres maximum, and keep at least 25 mm of ventilated cavity behind the boards, open at the top and bottom with insect mesh. Metal flashings, membrane and wall fixings are not supplied.Does composite cladding expand?Slightly, with temperature. Pre-drill a 5 mm clearance hole through the board only, leave 3–5 mm between board ends over a double batten and 8–10 mm against walls, trims and other fixed structures. What does the guarantee cover?20 years residential and 10 years commercial, limited and pro-rata: manufacturing defects, rot and fungal decay, and cracking, splitting or warping under normal conditions, when installed as shown in our catalogue. It is in addition to your statutory rights. Can I see full 4 m boards before I order?Yes — book a visit to our yard at Unit 7, Building H2, Milton Road, Didcot, Oxfordshire OX11 7HH. Delivery covers up to 100 miles from Oxford; check there is a clear route for 4 m boards from the road to the garden. All composite cladding · Decking & cladding FAQ
