It feels like a high quality device. The digital controller makes it easy to adjust. This pad can get very hot so don't let little kids play with this. Verified Customer Our Take: The Digital 655 is the flagship Thermophore. It is the heaviest pad in the lineup and it sits in the highest heat tier Thermophore offers, with a digital controller that lets you set an exact temperature from 155°F to 170°F and a session timer anywhere from 1 to 60 minutes. The number worth understanding is the floor, not the ceiling. At 155°F, the coolest setting on the 655 matches the hottest setting on a MaxHEAT, Liberty, or Classic large pad. The entire range sits in therapeutic territory. Pair the lower end of the range with a longer timer for extended sessions, or the upper end with a shorter one for concentrated relief. If you do not need digital precision, the MaxHEAT 155 covers the same 14" x 27" area with a three-setting switch. Why You'd Choose the Digital 655 155°F to 170°F, the top heat tier The 655 tops out at 170°F, and its lowest setting of 155°F is already the maximum of the MaxHEAT, Liberty, and Classic large pads. When you need the most intense therapeutic moist heat Thermophore offers, this is the tier. Digital controller, set your exact temperature Select any temperature from 155°F to 170°F on the digital display. No guessing between Low, Medium, and High. The display shows your chosen temperature and the remaining session time. Full temperature in under 10 minutes. Timer up to 60 minutes, the longest available Set therapy sessions anywhere from 1 to 60 minutes, more than double the fixed 25-minute shutoff on other Thermophore models. Pair a lower temperature with a longer session, or a higher temperature with a shorter one. Heaviest pad in the lineup, deepest contact The Digital 655 is the heaviest pad Thermophore makes. More weight means more body-contouring contact, fewer air gaps, and more consistent heat delivery across the entire surface. 14" x 27" covers back, hips, or shoulders The same large 14" x 27" coverage as the MaxHEAT and Liberty large models. Covers the full back from shoulders to lower back, wraps around a hip or thigh, or drapes across both shoulders. Automatic moist heat, no water needed The fleece cover absorbs humidity from the surrounding air and the pad's heat converts it into therapeutic steam. Moist heat penetrates deeper into muscles and joints than dry heat. No water, spray bottles, or damp towels. Drug-free relief, no pills, no side effects Moist heat therapy helps relieve arthritis, back pain, muscle spasms, fibromyalgia, and sports injuries by increasing blood flow and relaxing muscles, without NSAIDs or opioids. HSA / FSA eligible, Medicare approved when prescribed Qualifies for HSA and FSA purchases. Also approved for Medicare reimbursement when prescribed for arthritis pain management. Select a precise temperature between 155°F and 170°F and set a timer from 1 to 60 minutes. The display shows your chosen temperature and the remaining time. The pad reaches full temperature in under 10 minutes, which is far more control than a three-setting or press-and-hold model. What temperature range does the Digital 655 offer? 155°F to 170°F. The whole range sits in therapeutic territory. For reference, the coolest setting on the 655 is the same as the hottest setting on a MaxHEAT, Liberty, or Classic large pad, and most generic drugstore pads top out well below that. What is the difference between the Digital 655 and the MaxHEAT 155? The Digital 655 runs 155°F to 170°F against 145°F to 155°F on the MaxHEAT 155, so its floor is the MaxHEAT's ceiling. It offers exact digital temperature selection instead of Low, Medium, and High, an adjustable 1 to 60 minute timer instead of a fixed 25-minute shutoff, and it is the heaviest pad in the lineup. Both are 14" x 27" with automatic moist heat and washable fleece covers. How does the Thermophore produce moist heat without adding water? The fleece cover absorbs moisture from the humidity in the surrounding air. When the pad heats up, it converts that moisture into therapeutic steam that penetrates deeper into muscles and joints than dry heat. No water, spray bottles, or damp towels needed. The cover produces moist heat for 20 to 30 minutes per session, then set it aside to reabsorb moisture from the air. Why can the Digital 655 run up to 60 minutes instead of 25? The digital controller gives you precise temperature control, so you can choose a setting at the lower end of the range for a longer session. Other Thermophore models have a fixed 25-minute shutoff because they run at fixed heat settings. The Digital 655 puts both duration and intensity in your hands. Is the Digital 655 HSA or FSA eligible? Yes. It is HSA and FSA eligible, and it is also approved for Medicare reimbursement when prescribed for arthritis pain management. Check with your plan administrator or insurance company to confirm coverage. Can I lie on this heating pad? No. Place it on top of the treatment area only. Lying on a heating pad traps heat against the skin and increases the risk of burns. The weighted design holds the pad in place without you having to lie on it. Questions?
