Andamooka Opal Ring with Antique Sterling Silver Filigree
A little piece of English history, reimagined around a colourful South Australian opal. Handmade in my Pomona studio, this ring features a 4.10 ct Andamooka matrix opal displaying flashes of red, orange, yellow, green, aqua, blue and violet. The floral base was hand formed from a sterling silver filigree napkin ring, made in England circa 1900. A small section of the original antique filigree was carefully extracted, sanded and shaped into a delicate flower setting, preserving its intricate curled details. A handmade 925 sterling silver bezel holds the opal, complemented by a 925 sterling silver band. An individual piece combining antique craftsmanship, Australian opal and contemporary handmade silverwork.
