Gillis Lundgren KONTIKI Children's High Chair for IKEA, Sweden, 1970s

A rare vintage KONTIKI children's high chair designed by Gillis Lundgren for IKEA, Sweden, in the 1970s. A distinctive example of Scandinavian children's furniture, the KONTIKI combines a substantial solid pine frame with a brown PVC seat and backrest. The gently angled legs, rounded edges and exposed construction give the chair the straightforward yet highly recognizable character associated with Swedish design of the period. The KONTIKI is a documented Gillis Lundgren design and appears in original IKEA catalogues from the period. The chair retains its original IKEA maker's mark.
