Tom Mason Rose Pedestal Vase Stoneware, glaze Wheel thrown Size: 33cm by 14cm by 14cm Garden series is an ongoing edition of painted forms by Sydney ceramic artist Tom Mason, developed through wheel-throwing, painting, assembling and firing in his Paddington studio. Vessel forms and sculptural compositions come together through traditional ceramic processes, experimental assembly, firing and kiln chemistry. The series explores gesture through sunlight, flowers, gardens and rain. Floral forms appear and dissolve across curved surfaces, rendered through glaze, colour and repeated brushwork. The works move between open fields of sky and garden, large flowers, smaller fragments of petals, leaves, wet surfaces and garden detail.
