Formed in Adelaide in 2004 by university friends Taasha Coates and Tristan Goodall, with Cam Goodall and Mikey Green, The Audreys emerged from a shared belief in storytelling, melody, and emotional restraint. Tristan’s simple encouragement—that Taasha could write songs—sparked a creative partnership that would help shape a generation of Australian roots music. Recorded in the band’s earliest days, the album captures a rare sense of immediacy. Anchored by Coates’ unmistakable voice—warm, conversational, and quietly commanding—songs like “Banjo & Violin,” “Oh Honey,” and “You & Steve McQueen” unfold with intimacy and grace. Folk, blues, and country influences blend into something timeless and unforced. There is space in these recordings—room for breath, for silence, for the listener to step inside. Originally released in 2006, Between Last Night and Us went on to win the ARIA Award for Best Blues & Roots Album and achieve Gold status, becoming a modern classic of Australian music.
